NRL Magic Round kicked-off with Sportstech Showcase
AdvanceQLD partnered with the NRL to showcase sportstech as the NRL Magic Round was about to kick-off in Brisbane. At the showcase event at The Precinct, Premier Steven Miles announced that NRL Magic Round will remain in Brisbane until 2027. Part of the partnership this year included a unique opportunity for 22 local businesses to showcase their groundbreaking products and solutions to key decision-makers from the NRL, clubs, stakeholders, and major sporting organisations across Queensland.
ASTN State Manager, Nikita Vogel and Executive Chair, Dr Martin Schlegel noted that an increasing number of startups and businesses from adjacent sectors are capitalising on the opportunity to work with sports, rights holders, brands and other stakeholders. “We welcome the knowledge transfer that can occur from inside as well as into our sector from the outside as an enriching open innovation opportunity for all,” said Schlegel. “ASTN stands ready to assist founders from adjacent sectors to learn about the sports industry and take advantage of the ASTN connection opportunities,” added Vogel noting that the NRL and teams seem genuinely excited about the opportunity to engage with the sportstech sector locally.
