The impact of Sports Technology & Digital Transformation – Perspectives from Our Teams, Leagues & Federations
This panel session explores the theme of technology and digital transformation with leaders from Western Australia’s sports teams, leagues and federations.
As we continue to experience rapid technological change, sports leaders need to be increasingly aware and agile in responding to its potential impact on both commercial and high-performance operations.
Whether it be increasing retention rates of members, better personalisation of engagement with fans or improved match-day experiences, technology platforms are playing an increasing role in day-to-day operations. And from the perspective of monitoring and measuring athletes and teams, there is an ever-increasing portfolio of technology solutions focused on improving decision-making for in-game and out-of-game performance.
In this panel session the leaders will share their thoughts on what’s important to them and their businesses in this age of rapid digital transformation in sport;
- How important is digital transformation, technology & innovation in current business plans and budgets
- What types of solutions have had the greatest positive impact on the businesses/departments, and what types of solutions are they looking for?
- What are the challenges in selecting, implementing, and using new technologies/platforms?
- What is important for technology innovators and startups to understand when developing and promoting their solutions to teams, leagues and federations?
- What are potential future problems and opportunities that may be solved using technology and digital platforms?
Panellists include:
- Andrew Lyttle - Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) - National Biomechanics Network Lead
- Mark Lane - Surfing WA - Chief Executive Officer
- Brad Keller - Fremantle Dockers FC - Performance and Skills Acquisition Scientist
