Jonathon Bernard outlined various ways sport facilitates common understanding and how the AFL - Australian Football League deploys technology at Marvel Stadium to reduce barriers and improve the experience.
Machar Reid explained how the Australian Open provides a platform to scout, test and validate ideas like transforming spatial data into information-rich 3D sounds for patrons with special needs.
Lisa Hasker OAM (She/Her) in her role as CEO of Vicsport and Board Member at the ASTN - Australian Sports Technologies Network outlined that sportstech is not only used by elite and professional athletes but can also provides solutions for grassroots and recreational sports.
Defining sportstech across advanced materials, sensors & devices, health & medtech as well as information & communication technologies, Lisa explained that the sportstech market in Australia is as big as fintech and employs a similar number of people.
Emma Sherry pointed to the research RMIT University and other institutions are conducting in sport to invent, test and educate on the ideas for the future.
